Most people on my bus have nicknames.

The craziest thing happened today on the bus. I was having a pleasant conversation with Mercy, minding my own business, and I gradually became aware that Skyler the Bus Bastard (they all have one) was harassing someone just across the aisle. It didn't sound like an outright nasty assault, so I let it go, but eventually I realized that they were getting really rowdy, which was annoying. And then I got knocked in the ribs with a shoe, which was when I leaned over to go "Hey, tone it down, brats" and it occurred to me that Skyler was beating the shit out of Freckles, just wailing on him and everyone was too stunned or entertained to do anything, so I shouted "HEY!" at the top of my lungs and the bus driver pulled over to see what the hell was going on.

The thing was, while Skyler was trying to twist Freckles' ear off, I heard him saying "You wanna call me gay again, you little faggot?"

This doesn't surprise me. Skyler is one of those kids who is naturally confused about his sexuality and reacts to it by projecting his feelings onto any possible outlet and forcing his violent emotions upon them, which I later explained to Freckles as meaning "He's kinda gay himself and doesn't want anyone to find out, so whenever someone calls him out on it he tries to kill them."

Anyway, Skyler got relegated to the front bus seat and the driver made a call to someone about it, so he probably won't be riding the bus for a while.

But then Pork turns around and is like "Haha, Freckles is a fag!" and Freckles just goes "Dude, shut up. He kept hitting me in the head so I told him to stop being gay." Which is understandable, I guess. I mean, he's 12, so I let it go. And since Pork was being a jackass Mercy yelled at him and I told Freckles I had to tell him something so he'd come and sit in the seat behind us.

Seriously, kids. When does this shit end? For some of them it doesn't end at all. I worry about future generations, man. And I see why my little brother refuses to ride the bus anymore.
