Thanks for the hard work, kill_me_faster AKA Demi. Your prompts: Gokudera, hair barrettes, reading glasses, Uri. In exchange, she would give me her ficcing debut for the KHR fandom. So my prompts were: my favourite triumvirate (you know this), mafia-ness (since canon is lacking in that respect), witty dialogues.
That was a month ago. And here's my end of the bargain:
Umm, underwhelmed MUCH?
...Just a little over 4 days ago Demi posted my request on her writing journal: a three-parter, 23,000 words in length with everything I asked for and MUCH more. Despite Demi's constant worrying and self-kicking over it, it's (in my humble opinion) really, really good. I would not, for the life of me, have expected to swoon THIS BADLY over a fan rendition of Hibari whom I think is scarily IC anyway. And Chrome; a believable blend of dependence and independence WITH HER OWN MIND YAY. And Mukuro; also amazingly IC and ever-entertaining (albeit LOL-ish) in his physical absence for the better part of the fic. Also, you have no idea how much I want your Kusakabe for myself.
Also, as improbable as TYL18xYoung96 is, she somehow has made it plausible for even the famously anal retentive and canon worshipping realms_of_life *protects self against the cow with a spatula*. The SMUT - OMG THE SMUTTT *is slapped repeatedly into soberness*. And.....adfagagaahheah MUKURO'S IN THERE THE ENTIRE TIME XDDDDDD. It could NOT get any better!
Plus, there's this:
"Nightingale - tu hai cantato per me; Nightingale."
EEEEEEEEE SHADDAWP!!!!!!! <3333333 *clubs Demi ad infinitum*. I died. Seriously died. I'm glad to be surrounded by amazing talents.
Therefore, I looked at my Gokudera, looked back at the fic and bawled XDDDD - FREAKING BAWLED - because my lame doodling simply could NOT match Demi's fic in size, effort and quality. So I decided, what I can't match in quality I can MOST DEFINITELY make up for in quantity =DDDDD. However, I'm going to give Demi her compensation in a separate entry as this alone has become tl;dr. That will be tomorrow.
Goes without saying, my KHR-savvy friends, that I wholeheartedly recommend Demi's fic if you don't mind the pairing involved at all. However, if you ARE squicked by the pairing involved, I suggest you give it a go anyway for the vivid and intimate (?) prose, sensitive handling of canon elements and amazing renditions of Hibari and Mukuro - but take care to skip the whole of Part Two XDDD.
