- "When you're ready to die for the universe, call me. I'll be waiting." is a gorgeous line. And not just because it's incredibly cruel, whether Kyubey means it to be or not. Because it's also incredibly attractive. I'd sign on that dotted line.

I so would not. That is the line that would convince me to NEVER sign with Kyubey, because the words "Faustian bargain" would be emblazoned in my mind.

The one historical girl who bothered you the most (Joan of Arc, right?) didn't bother me, because after her death, Historical! Joan had a host of imitators. One of them, a young girl who also heard voices and saw visions, and who was said to have fought in the French army, was named Pierrone (or La Pierrone). And, like Joan, Pierrone ended up getting burned at the stake.

I can SO see "I wish to be just like Joan in every way" being the wish of a young hero-worshiping French girl in the years after Joan's death. Because how could that be a bad wish, right?

So, as far as I'm concerned, the girl at the end isn't Joan. It's Pierrone, a sweet, Sayaka-like girl who, quite innocently, only wanted to be like her heroine--not realizing that her wish condemned her to either become a witch or to burn alive like Joan. Because that fits this beautiful and tragic universe so WELL.

- the 2013 magical girl fic exchange cannot come fast enough.

There's going to be one? Awesome!

- I am never going to be able to type that emoticon without flashing to Kyubey. :3 :3 I CAN'T STOP SEEING IT.

I KNOW. I KNOW.

- on Kyubey: okay, so he was working for a greater good. You know what it still doesn't really make better? INFORMED CONSENT, YOU MONSTER. THE IMPORTANT WORD IS "INFORMED".

Which is the last thing Kyubey would want, of course, given that his species is looking for the the burst of energy that comes when hope becomes bleak and irrevocable despair. Having been in the depths of that kind of despair, I want to punch Kyubey right in his overly cute face for being a lying liar who lies.

- I love everything about this second half, from Sayaka's fall to darkness to Kyouko's desperate reaching out and awesome self-sacrifice to Episode 10 to how they ended the show.

The second half is as close to perfect as you can get with a show, bar none.
