Part XI:
A loud, pitched noise sounded.

Reese rolled over in her bed and slammed her hand on the snooze button without waking up. It was a terrible habit she had. Fortunately, everyone in the house knew her and her schedule well enough to keep her out of bed, and in class. At this moment, however, Reese was still sleeping. Somewhere inside her mind she had images dancing in them that she could not be pulled from.

The loud noise erupted again. This time, Reese woke up enough to growl at the alarm clock before slamming it again. She was asleep before her cheek returned to her pillow.

For a few moments, there was silence.

Then the noise, a different pitch this time, sounded again.

Moving faster than any half-sleeping person should be able to, Reese swiped her free arm across her bedstand. Padded bouncing could be heard as the alarm clock fell to the carpet, taking a cup of water, a cell phone, a set of keys, and a tissue box with it. Reese pulled the comforter over her, twisting back into a deeper cuddle, passing out in the warm bed.

Reese sank back towards sleep. She loved sleep. Reese never seemed to get enough of it. She knew why, of course. It is because she's a known procrastinator, and there isn't enough time in the day to be a music major as there is. Suicide, really. But, it's who she was. Reese didn't mind... until it came time to wake up.

The noise came yet again, and her eyes snapped open wide. The sound maintained itself this time. Reese narrowed them to slits. The sound kept rolling steadily.

Tossing back the covers angerly, Reese stumbled into her slippers and stomped over to her door. She threw it back and screamed: "Casper Daniel Erickson! If you don't stop that right now I'm going to destroy you!"

A mocking laugh traveled up the stairs as Casey retorted, "I've got to warm up somewhere, bitch."

"I swear, Casey! No one needs to be woken up to that racket!"

"It is not racket. It's warmups. Now get down here if you want coffee before classes."

Reese frowned to the empty hallway. She turned around, and found her alarm clock missing from its typical alter. Sighing, she left the door and flopped down on her bed. Reaching around to the far side, she picked up the upside down mechanical object. It was blinking midnight. She sighed and picked up her cell phone, also laying on the floor. Flipping it open, Reese noted the time.

Angerly, she got back up off the bed and stormed to the door. "Dammit, Casey!"

"That's, 'Dammit, Casey comma bitch!'" he called upstairs. She never heard, as her door was slamming closed before he had even completed the first syllable. Casey adjusted his embouchure, grinning to himself. "You can thank me for not being late later, Reese."
