My dad decided to go to a mountain today. Thankfully we drove to the parking lot that's already pretty far up, because you do not want to walk up the entire thing. It was still pretty steep though. The cool thing is that this mountain has a plateau on top and that was once a Celtic settlement. Now it's full of crosses, because nothing says christians and pilgrimages like putting several crosses on the same spot.
The wood up the way to the top. This is the harmless part.
Cool tree.
Still in the woods.
And this root-rock thing.
Now for the view towards the top:
Here's the first view of the little church.
the weather was absolutely beautiful today
And this is a basilika. ...I think. There is actually a basilika basically on one side of the road and a monastery on the other, and I can't really tell them apart from so far away.....but I think this one was the basilika.
Here's the little church again
And the first picture from the view up there

This is my favorite from today. Look how small the people are!
That thing on the right? definitely the basilika
as I remarked to my sister: "Lara Croft would have loved this"
That is actually a small gorge - just small enough to make you think that you could jump over there easily...and just deep enough to break your neck
A flag....because putting flags on stuff is what people do
and one of the many, many crosses up there. I think they add a new each with each annual big pilgrimage...and all have these lazy jesus symbolism signs
And they have the second horizontal arms and I have no idea why
And I leave you with this little fellow, an (according to wikipedia's translation) an old world's swallowtail or papilio machaon...the german terminology sounds cooler; according to it, this little fellow is a knight's butterfly...and the word for butterfly also sounds more intimidating
