I will always remain a Harmonian at heart. It is hard to find out that we were so wrong about JKR. The only thing I regret is that now so many people are leaving fandom. I wish you wouldn't because that is where I really fell in love with this ship. But it is your choice, and I wish you all the best.

I don't know you as you didn't leave your name, but I'm glad you'll remain a Harmonian at heart as well. While I still keep the same values, I don't feel that JKR deserves the effort I put into my work.

But since I uphold these same ideals, I figured the best place to direct my efforts would be my own creations, as well as other fandoms in which authors do not hold their fans in contempt.

I'll be around online, but I won't support the twisted values that JKR is impressing upon so many younger readers. I just won't stand for that.

*blinks* I'm sorry, but you're a bit delusional if you think that any of the 'effort' you're putting into your work is going to JKR. It's not. And your leaving does the exact opposite to what you're intending. You know who gets all the effort of your writing, your essays, your opinions? Your fellow fandomites. By leaving, you only do a disservice to the other people who have shipped H/HR with you - and you only add to the growing confusion and disgust that many people in other parts of the fandom are starting to feel for people who ship H/Hr.

Why should I do something that I no longer enjoy, tainted as it is by JKR's repulsive lack of values and shabby idea of writing?

I have no motivation to promote JKR's work, which is what I'd be doing if I write HP fic or draw HP fanart or write more essays searching for the depth in her work that doesn't exist. No matter what anyone else wants me to do, no matter what anyone claims is my responsibility, I just don't feel that way. Fandom is, first and foremost, for personal enjoyment.

Had I known that JKR's values were so contrary and offensive to mine, I wouldn't have jumped into this fandom in the first place. It's my time and my energy that get wasted on the ideas of a person for whom I have little respect. I'd rather devote my energies to my own projects, as well as to other creative works that I do still enjoy.

It's not because my ship didn't sail; note that the two fics I've written and posted on ff.net, though unfinished, are based entirely on fanon. I'm leaving because JKR, a Mary Sue author of the lowest degree, is not ( ... )

I guess I just don't get the whole idea that you have to leave fandom just because she happens to have different values from you. You'll be leaving and abstaining from a lot of things in life if that's your reaction all the time. I'm not saying at all that you don't have the right to be upset and all that - everyone reads certain things into the text, and if your ideas aren't confirmed, it can be really hard, especially if you've come away with the impression that the author is laughing at you about them. If you're leaving purely because you won't enjoy it anymore, that's fine, but I guess that wasn't the impression that I got? My impression was more that it was revolving around what JKR had said and her shipping choices.

Check out my latest entry. That explains everything succinctly. :)

Thanks for being civil!
