Writer's Block: American Censorship Day!

Nov 16, 2011 21:19

EDIT: Alright, so I went and found some more articles about the bill. I think this was phrased in a confusing way. It's not Internet censorship. It's the proposed "Protect IP Act", and I have to say-- it's as every bit unbelievable as the petition says it is. e_o That's just wrong. I am very much against this bill. Copyright was intended to prevent people from making money off of others' work and making sure people couldn't just say they created/did something when they in fact didn't. It wasn't intended for millionaire celebrities to complain about people getting their songs for free off of the internet instead of buying CDs. They get PLENTY of money from concerts and other performances. I have no pity for them and their financial concerns. No sympathy, and of course no empathy.  And what about parodies? And covers? WE ALL KNOW THEY DIDN'T ORIGINALLY SING THE SONG. WE'RE NOT STUPID. So why are they getting worked up over this? Ugh. I am DEFINITELY not in support of this creativity-destroying, freedom-denying, CHILDISH proposal. Lol, my brother, who I just told this to, said if they pass it he'll quit the internet. I can see that. We don't need it. I think I'll (continue) not listening to the music of all these celebrities who are complaining about their lost pocket-change. I don't need them. Never have, and never will. (I have Skyrim and its wonderful dragons. Screw them all.)
