I'm so glad that it's finally time for the NFL draft. Not because I care about the NFL draft, but because I will finally have to stop hearing about the NFL draft. For weeks it is the only thing they talk about on Sportscenter, it's really been getting old.
But since I'm on the subject, would anyone like to tell me why in the world the Houston Texans selected Mario Williams with the first pick in the draft? Personally, I really don't care about the fate of the Texans, but this has to be the biggest, most foolish NFL draft pick of my lifetime. You have the chance to take either Vince Young, the most amazing player I have ever seen, or Reggie Bush, the most phenomenal running back in ages, and you take Mario Williams. And why? Because he did really well at the combine. Fuck the combine! I'm so fucking tired of experts raving about performances at the combine and then talking about players as "excellent physical specimen." I couldn't care less about the combine, I care about football. And Vince and Reggie play some serious fucking football. This is going to turn out to be a bigger mistake than the Pistons taking Darko Milicic with the second pick in the 2003 NBA draft (for those of you that follow basketball, remember that they picked Darko over Carmello Anthony and Dwayne Wade - but I still think this NFL pick is more ridiculous).
