Boycott Sony-BMG

So Ron just came across this post online...

"Found this on a trading message board kinda scary:

I just read on Bluegrass Works that Sony has secretly inserted rootkit software on consumer's computers when the consumer plays certain music CD's on the Sony-BMG label. This software prevents the consumer from copying the music CD, but it also slows down your computer and makes it vulnerable to crashes and third party attacks. You can read the full report on Cybergrass magazine or you can click on the subject matter in today's issue of Bluegrass Works. I appreciate Bluegrass Works and Cybergrass for making me (and others) aware of this issue. I do not appreciate Sony for secretly installing this stealth software on their music cd's. I do not appreciate Sony's refusal to identify which artists' cd's contain this secret software and I do not appreciate Sony for even attempting to do such a thing. I do not care WHO the artist is. I will never again buy ANYTHING recorded on the Sony label. If you care about your computer's security, you will not buy anything from them, either. I wonder if any other record companies are doing this, and if so, who are they? If I were a recording artist and my record company was doing this, I would be absolutely livid. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that sales will decrease dramatically when consumers discover their favorite artist(s) CD's contain secret, stealth software which will damage their computers "

I went to Cybergrass Magazine and found the actual article. I find this practice disgusting. People that actually pay for their music should not be punished in such a way.

I've also included the link to how the CDs with this software may be marked...so keep your eyes peeled music fans!
