So I saw Rent last night in Aventura. I bought two tickets the first day they went on sale hoping I'd find someone to go with me, but alas, I found no one. Not surprising here, but oh well.
The person I really wanted to go with was my mother, and I convinced her to drive over from the west coast and see the show. She loves Rent, so I was happy :]
* The editing in the show is amazing. Sony (I believe) did an excellent job with their shots and the close up were insane. Crystal clear footage. I could see the sweat on Eden's face in 'Over the Moon.'
* Will Chase is very nice to look at. When we first saw him, my mom went "Ohhhhhh." haha, it was quite amusing. I probably "ohhhed" along with her. He has piercing blue eyes.
* Will and Adam work really, really well together. I was impressed with their chemistry. Lovely voices, too.
* Mark has my glasses :] I usually wear contacts, but when I do wear glasses, those are the ones. Good choice ;)
* Justin seemed a little out of breath when he was singing "Today 4 U." I can understand with all of that moving around, but his voice just wasn't coming out very strong. His high notes weren't extremely high and I thought that that might just be the way his voice was, but later on in the show, he sang much higher. Great performace, still. He was sweating quite a bit after the number.
* I was disappointed that there weren't a large number of people in the theater. Again though, not surprised because Miami doesn't like anything. The theater held 200 people, but I'd say there were about 90 people. Fun audience, though. We clapped after every song just like an actual show, and we mooed lol There was singing during Finale B but I can't sing lol so I didn't sing.
* Eden stole the show. Hands down, just completely stole the show.
* 'Over the Moon' was hilarious. She really owns Maureen. Her "female thing" was the best. During the "got tah, got tah," she stopped and kind of coughed off to the side (purposely) and it was hilarious.
* Renee had a great voice, especially in the softer parts of songs. She cried a few times during the show. Great chemistry between her and Rodger.
*Rodger's face in "Light My Candle" when Mimi bends over is priceless.
*Amazing "One Song Glory." Will owned the stage. I love "Light My Candle," but I kind of wish Rodger's song would have kept going. It was that good.
* Tracie Thoms! So glad she got to do the show and she was amazing.
* Tracie and Eden = adorable.
* Eden stomach is very pale. It's cute :] So is her ass, but well, that's expected. After she pulled her pants down, my mom turned to me and said: "Wow, that's takes a lot of nerve." She loved it. Also, I thought I may have seen a tattoo on her back. Eden has a tattoo?
* Excellent "La Vie Boheme." Cast was into it and there were Eden kisses.
* I really, really want to see Kendra as Maureen. I need to look for DVDs.
* The "Without You" scene was so sad. When Angel was curled up with Collins... ah, I cried. :[
* "Take Me of Leave Me" owns. Again, the editing! The people totally got the show and gave us lovely close ups and ass-grabs. I love Eden's powerhouse voice.
* Shaun and Justin work so well together! Really, everyone had great chemistry. "I'll Cover You" was lovely. Angel was so sweet getting the coat for Collins. Aw.
* No messups in the whole show! I was shocked because they all knew they were being filmed. Flawless performance.
* The "Finale B" scene broke my heart. So sad. Mimi was crying and Rodger's blue eyes got even bluer. Maureen and Joanne were cuddling. There was a closeup on Maureen's face after Mimi woke up and it was tear streaked.
* The theater was showing "Equus" with the Harry Potter dude. There was a line all throughout the theater. I was hoping it was for Rent, but no. Really disappointing.
* I love Maureen and Joanne's last make-up! "You bit my tongue." *dies* And the kisses were so sweet. Go Eden and Tracie!
* The end. Goodness :[ So sad. I cried. They were all singing when they brought out the original cast and clapping their hands. We clapped in the theater. No Idina :[ I was really surprised. Eden and Traice were adorable, again. They had their arms around each other. I can't describe how sad it was. I was getting such a headache because my lip was trembling. My mom was crying. So sad. I cried because it was so beautiful; because I never got to see it on Broadway; because it's closing; because I hate America for closing it. Then, at the end, they showed a picture of Larson. Oh my goodness. And he never saw the opening performance. Seriously, it breaks my heart. I do not understand how they can close this show. I don't want to hear that it's "outdated" because in the past three weeks I've read so many articles about the spread of AIDS, especially in New York. AND, the show it's even about that!
* What is wrong with theater? Close Rent - open Shrek and Spiderman???
* The world need Rent.
Wonderful evening.
