It's not a very funny situation, but I'm amused at the antiquated thoughts on marriage and Edward's line, I suppose, of course, one should know to make the right choice in the first place, but I took a little time to learn that.

And, as always, this was fantastic! Very intriguing. I love Julia's remarks as well!

Thank you! It kind of is a funny situation, because the complaint is so obviously ridiculous and hypocritical, but it could damage Edward's career, so they have to deal with it. :-)

“And this is why the government gets nothing done,” said Julia. “You’re much too busy conspiring against each other. I’d sort you all out.”

Heh heh heh...

That'd make an interesting AU, actually, though it wouldn't really work out exactly right with the period--Julia being the politician and Edward being the spouse dragged along for the ride.

Edit: Oh, also, did I take out the right tag? It was the white chocolate, wasn't it?

Thanks! And, yes, that was the right tag (or rather the wrong tag, if you know what I mean). :-)

Julia being the MP wouldn't be at all impossible for the period, but I'm not entirely sure how much patience she'd have for all the committees, reports, campaigning and speechifying, which is why she isn't one. She'd wind up complaining about everyone else being slow and stupid and sounding off to Edward, who would have come back from a shareholders' meeting or writing articles or a book, or whatever he's doing in this AU and he'd just unhelpfully look at her over his newspaper and remind her that she chose to be an MP.
