TachycardiaNotes: Cody gets a send-off. Nothing big, really. More of a transistion than anything. Obviously never planning that far ahead (lol), but...I think the next few or so will be college Cody.
Leaving to university was a relatively silent but extremely draining affair.
Cody had quickly accepted the offer to the place furthest from home. It was an “eh” school that took itself way too seriously and was definitely overpriced, but the distance was definitely worth the cost-such a great excuse to never come visit.
Since it took a plane flight to get there, he was going alone. After all, his parents were both much too busy to spare a trip out to the other side of the country to help him move in. Everything had already been shipped ahead, ready for him to pick up when he arrived at the dorms.
So, on the day of his flight, it was just the matter of goodbye to be settled at the airport drop-off.
His father shook his hand, told him to have fun and study hard, and said a few things to remember on things that every young man did at this age-in essence, it was a convoluted “wrap it before you tap it” chat riddled with a strange selection of words that made absolutely no sense whatsoever as analogies.
His mother had stood ramrod straight next to his father, hands clasped tightly in front of her. She wore a small smile, but her eyes-God, her eyes!-bore into him with the blame of the entire army of girls that Allie used to flock with. The brown orbs screeched that this purgatory of still-had-to-go-to-work trophy wife was Cody’s fault and that now he even had the nerve to abandon her in this hellhole-what an ungrateful son!
Her gaze made him want to revoke his acceptance and stay just to make her feel somewhat better, despite the dislike she clearly radiated towards him. But, he was tired of always thinking of someone else’s pain first when he had his own bearing down him. He had waited years for this, for some freedom.
Cody gave a last wave to his parents and turned for the terminal gates.
