Notes: This is an incredibly short one. My mind has been all over the place lately. But this is in a set up style. Until the next one.
“This arcade is old as hell...”
A bubbly laugh flitted up. “Yeah, but it's still awesome though.”
“I didn't even know that arcades were still popular.”
“Well.” The blond spun around, placing her hands behind her back as she stared up to him. “Now you know.”
The arcade was well and truly alive. It felt like lost memories from 2006, and he could help but get a deep breath of it. Childhood ran up and down the skewed aisle between arcade machines and curved around the dance pads. A guy watching his two friends at the pinball machines took a step back and jutted up his right hand into the air. In his left was a styrofoam cup of dark soda, which was quickly going flat. The blonde raised up her hands and gently touched the male's back. She softly said “Excuse me” as she passed. The guy jumped.
“Oh sorry!” he returned, quickly stepping forward again. He caught the eyes of her companion: a tall brunet who sneered as he went by. The blonde was oblivious of the visual threat, and the brown haired student just rolled his shoulders as he walked by.
“You got money for tickets?” he asked, trying not to look too interested in their surroundings.
“Even better,” she retorted. She dug into her jacket pocket and pulled out a dark blue card. “I've got a game card.”
“Let me see that.”
They stopped, and he held out his hand. She placed it into his palm. The brunet lifted it and examined the card face. The name of the arcade was in bright yellow font with a light blue drop shadow. Light blue fragments speckled with yellow decorated the body of the card. The base was, of course, dark blue. He flipped the gaudy relic over and stared at the back. It was very simple. Dark blue with a black sensor stripe across the top. It had a white rectangle in the center with a white square to the right. The brunet handed the card back over to the female.
“Old. As balls,” he restated, brows lifting slightly.
She nodded her head and took the card back. “Yeah, but it's fun though.”
She turned around and looked around at the selection before them. She recognised one of the machines and waved for him to follow.
“Come on. Show me how good your fighting skills are.”
Blue eyes sparkled with interest as the brunet followed close behind. “Finally, you're speaking my language.”
