Magic; it exists.
For all of my short eighteen years of life, I've been told magic isn't real. That it was a story, one to tell at bedtime and no more; that there was not truth behind the tale.
Turns out, me and everyone else in this world has been lied to. Why has everything I’ve been told inaccurate? Because my father is the head Professor at the hall of science.
Magic exists.

Nettie snorted, rubbing her nose on my cheek. “Hey, girl.” I patted her neck, running my hand through her mane. Laying my hand on her nose, I reached for my pocketwatch. Seeing the time I gasped. I’m late, I’m late! I dug through the hay to find my big brown pair of goggles, and I slapped them against my forehead to silence my thoughts. I’ll run. And fast. I pulled the zipper on the side of my boots, the fashion ornaments jiggling as I did so. Grabbing my coat, I brushed the dirt from it. Slipping my arm through the sleeve, I tugged it over my arm and shoulder, wiggling my other arm in it’s hole. While I fastened my buttons, Nettie neighed. “Shh, girl.” I ran my hand along her neck. “I’ll be back.” She snorted, as though to say “come set me free soon.” I nodded. “I will,” I threw over my shoulder as I ran out of the stable; the chains and rusting gears bouncing against my boots. Running through the garden, I stopped only once to smell the flowers, pausing soon after leaving.
Taking a double take, I looked at my surroundings. The trees, plants, and wildlife.
The world around me had stopped. Time was standing still.
