Title: A Different Kind of Magic
Summary: Murien’s obnoxious roommate is ready to make up for her behavior. Maybe.
Notes: New flavor to replace Vanilla: Cheeseburger!
"Hey, dar-ling," trilled Rys, sweeping into the room.
"What do you want now?" Muiren closed her tome to better keep an eye on her roommate, who stood before her with the most pathetic kicked-puppy expression ever to grace the Academy of Sand.
Rys actually managed to summon tears to her eyes. "What," she gasped, "have I ever done to warrant such hostility?"
Muiren decided that any answer would doubtlessly end in one or both of them screaming, so she clamped her mouth shut and tried to burn a hole in Rys’s forehead with her glare alone. It didn't work, of course. Perhaps if she had put some magical effort into it, but murder wasn't something she wanted to do. Yet.
"Oh, dear," Rys said, deflating. "I'm sorry, you know. I haven't been the best roomie, have I?" Was that an apology? Really?
Rys fluttered around to the back of the chair. Muiren tried to follow her movements, not quite willing to trust the crocodile tears yet, but then Rys's hands landed on her shoulders and all thoughts of trust and annoyance flew away on the warm breezes of St. Lucia.
"Hnn..." Murien needed this. Hands, anyone's hands, kneading the stress away from her back and neck. She moaned and went limp, letting those hands, free of any association with obnoxious Rys, work a different kind of magic. For a while, an unknown stretch of time she’d never be able to capture again, Murien was content. Then...
"Hey, darling?" Rys said quietly, not stopping that beautiful feeling even for a second, "Can I borrow your necklace?"
"Ohhh, yes," Murien groaned, not even hearing the question. She was lost in the grip of those hands.
And those hands were gone. There was a tug at the back of Murien's neck, and a chilly feeling when Rys withdrew. "'kay, thanks!" she squealed, and Murien opened her eyes in time to see Rys fly out the door, Murien’s sapphire pendant clutched between her fingers.
