"Baby! Babe!" I looked up as an exhuberant Chaison rushed into the bedroom holding a stack of papers. He jumped on the bed and gathered me into his arms, nearly squeezing my oxygen away. "Chaise...what on earth..." I groaned out with a smile. "I passed!" I frowned until he gave me the papers. After recognizing the essay I had helped him with, I looked up at him and put both hands on his face. "You passed! Oh yay! I knew you would!"
Chaison got off of the bed and after putting the assignment on the dresser, started getting undressed. "This grade is just what I needed to pass for the semester! Do you know what this means baby? One more semester like this, and I will graduate! We can start getting our life on track and not live in this crap of a house anymore! We can pay our bills off and then start fresh!"
All I could do was watch my husband happily as he just put on his clothes with a wide grin that I haven't seen on him in a long time. He still blabbered on about what their future would be like and I chuckled as he threw his sock in the hamper as if throwing a basketball, shaking my head at the man of my heart. I was so into thinking about him, that I didn't even know that he was staring back at me. I blinked and he lowered his grin to a soft smirk, climbing back on top of the bed in just his dress pants and grabbing my hands.
"This is all because of you, Firebird. Thank you so much for helping me. You are my heartbeat, you know that?"
I freed one of my hands to stroke Chaise's cheek. "I do. Don't you ever be afraid to ask me for help, Chaison. That's what I'm here for as your wife. My job is to be your partner through and through. Always come to me, understand?"
Chaison's eyes swam with emotion as he answered, "Yes ma'am."
Foreheads touching, we stared at each other with nothing but love and loyalty for one another.
