Congratulations of the birth of your first child. I’ve sent you my man with a chest of things that newborns usually need. I hope you find them useful. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.

Noelle looked up from the letter. She turned to her brother.
“The queen sent these?”
She looked down at the oak chest. Inside were several babies’ things. She looked over at her sleeping infant.
“Quite strange,” Marc mused.
Noelle nodded. She knew the queen usually gifted her ladies with these things upon the birth of their children, but Noelle honestly hadn’t been expecting it seeing as her child’s father was the queen’s husband.
“She’s a very admirable woman,” Noelle said softly.
Marc laughed. “Yes I suppose that’s one word for it.”
Noelle frowned at her brother.
Marc bent and kissed his sister’s forehead. “Get some rest, sweet sister. You have a child to care for now.”
Noelle smiled slightly. Marc let himself out of the room.
Noelle looked at her baby. He was asleep. She wondered who he would look like as he grew. She knew it wouldn’t be comfortable for the Queen if her son looked very much like his father. So she hoped he took after her.
