Notes: For the summer challenge. Audrina leads a double life, which I hope to explore more in the future.


“Something came in the mail for you.” My roommate walked in, tossing a small wrapped box on my bed.

Could it be?

“Thanks.” I shoved the package in my knapsack and got up to leave.

“Aren’t you going to open it?” she looked at me curiously.

“Not right now, I’m running late for class.”I closed the door behind me and breathed a sigh of relief. Next year I’d get an apartment off campus. No more nosy roommates.

I slipped into the public washroom and found the first empty stall, anxiously ripping at the plain brown paper. A note fluttered out onto the floor and I snatched it up quickly.

“Use it well.” The three words, written in red ink, were signed “ M.C”

Inside the box, nestled among old crumpled newspapers, was a 22 magnum revolver.

Exactly what I’d been waiting for.
