I think it's more likely his classmates are all protecting themselves by non-interference rather than protecting Kennet, (though the teachers motives are far less clear). The question is where will the aliances shift to when Alex moves to bring Kennet down...

The problem is that Alex is so great at alienating himself that once he deals with Kennet... nothing is likely to change because he barely interacts with anyone else. :/ I'll have to work on that in the future, I think... (These Whipped Creams are threatening to become a normal part of the plot!)
