Author: Regret
Rating: PG
Story: Radial: Unravel
Challenge: FOTD - Plotz; Fudge Ripple #10 - Fear
Topping: Whipped Cream (Alex is 14)
Word Count: 1,382
Summary: Alex's impromptu sparring session with Kennet goes a little awry, and he learns just how much Kennet really knows about him.
Notes: This got a little away from me.

Even after all this time, he couldn’t get used to the thrill of being able to go outside, whether to train, read or just spend five minutes sitting in the sunshine. It was beautiful and alien and he couldn’t help thinking how easily it could all be taken away from him. )

NOT COOL, KENNET. But wow, the end of the sparring scene had me on the edge of my seat. It's was unnerving to see Alex in a vulnerable position like that (this may be the first piece I've read with this situation) and the way you wrote his reactions were vivid. Good piece!

I'm glad you enjoyed it (if that's the right word!).

Alex does his best not to end up in that kind of situation these days - or any other that he doesn't think he can win - but you never know might happen in the future...

I think being separated from Kennet for so long has left Alex a little to confident in himself, and a little to complacent about the other boy's abilities. He seemed to forget that Kennet was a psychopath for a moment there. Somehow I don't think Kennet's downfall will be though something so simply phsical.

Meanwhile, your grumpy medic continues to be much fun. Reminds me of Star Trek's Bones, without the sunny outlook on life ;)

I don't think he thought Kennet would grow faster than he has... and there was me thinking they were being taught about paying attention to their opponents. *lol*

He's turned out to be oddly likeable, which came as a surprise - to me. *sigh* I think he's basically embedded himself into this arc now!
