Two hours later as they walked back to their car, John turned to Mary and said "Okay, what was wrong
with this house. You just looked at it and said no. Now we're back at the car again."
"It's too small," said Mary looking at John.
"You said that about the three before that. This was built in the 1930's. Of course, it's small.
People didn't have much back then as we do now. It has three bedrooms, one bathroom, combo living and dining
room, and a kitchen in the back."
"That's the problem! We'll need more room for our kids."
"Which we haven't had yet. Okay, let's have some diplomacy here. What do you want exactly?"
"A home, where we can raise a family as safely as we can." Mary shrugged. "What more do you want?"
"If you can clarify some things for me. Lift the illusions so to speak. What do you want?"
"A home with a yard, not too small but not too big. We don't want to lose sight of our kids.
It can be one or two story home. It can't be a fixer upper. It has to be decently kept. Painted in
the last year or two. Yard not overgrown," said Mary wistfully.
John smiled and nodded. "It's a start. We have some stepping stones to go through, but we have
five more houses to see. Let's go. I'll drive this time," he said, opening the door for her as she sat on
the passenger side as he closed the door once she got in, then he went to the driver's side, opening it,
and sitting on the seat before closing the door. Then after buckling in, he put the car into drive and they
drove off to their next destination.
