Title: Come to the Land of Make Believe
Rating: PG
One day a child was born and as the child grew, it learned new things. . .letters, numbers, manners,
what to do and not. . .
The child became smart and loved to read. The child loved television and would watch programs.
There they found worlds with witches, genies, maids, time travel, and brave soldiers who fought battles
of good and evil. An only child, the child filled their head with dreams of traveling or fighting beside their favorite
heroes. Sometimes they imagined their fictional heroes were their friends instead of their fellow classmates.
As they aged, their heroes changed - now seductive vampires, immortals, ancient pharoahs, Japanese warriors,
and various music bands took the place of their old childhood ones. Still the child dreamed. . .
Then in time the child became a teen and began on the path to grow up as we all must do. Between Junior High and
High School, driver's licenses, grades, plans for college and jobs, the teen grew afraid. . .
One day they thought. . .what happens when I grow up? How will I live after college? Can I even get a job?
Days, weeks passed and then the teen turned eighteen. . .
The teen worried. "I'm leaving for college in two weeks! What if I screw up? What if I don't get a job after school?"
Then a voice said in the air. . ."Child, what do you wish for? Make a wish and it can come true!"
The teen closed their eyes, smiled and said "I wish that everything could stay the same as it had when I was a kid forever."
"It is done!"
Then the teen went to sleep.
The next morning, as the sun peeked through the window blinds, someone peeked out from the covers. Crawling out, the person said "Mommy?" Then as the person looked down at themselves and smiled. "I'm a kid again!"
Then they heard a voice. . .several in fact as old and new heroes came to greet the child as if they had never left.
The teen, now a child again, never left the land of make believe ever again.
