Summary: A day in the forest leads to a scolding and the appearance of a long forgotten family member.
AN: Here's a little something that popped into my head while I was staring at the prompts. Again it shows Lilith and Lucas but it's before they were evil and trying to kill everyone. As usual constructive criticism is useful and welcomed.
She was running. Her feet flew across the ground in front of her, falling heavily on leaves and stones. Branches whipped at her face, tore at her clothing but still she kept running. She could hear the footsteps behind her. Her pursuer was panting for breath as she kept ahead of him. Barely.
She had long left the path and was speeding through the undergrowth, sounds of the village fading as she ran further and further into the forest. Suddenly the sounds of her pursuer grew louder and a heavy body flung into her, shoving her to the ground.
She looked up where he hovered over her, arms braced either side of her head and pining her in place.
“Honestly Lil, you’re never going to beat me,” Lucas grinned down at her, his hair full of leaves and twigs as it hung around their faces like a curtain.
She shoved him off.
“Damn it Luc, I was really scared!” Lilith shouated at him as she climbed to her feet. Lucas just sat looking up at her from where he was sprawled on the floor “Haven’t you been listening to the Elders? There’s something going on, strange people around,”
“So?” Lucas said as he climbed to his feet.
“So?! Mother told us not to wander too far from the village and now look at us. You’ve chased me away from the path.”
“Ah well, let’s just go home.” Lucas said. He slung his arm around his sister’s shoulder and they walked slowly through the undergrowth. “I’ll tell her it was my fault.”
“It was your fault!”

They got home within the hour. Lucas had apparently tracked down an old path that lead straight to the village rather than the long winding one that most people used nowadays. It was overgrown, thick with bushes, barely a slim trail of dirt in the undergrowth and Lilith wondered how on earth her brother had found it.
They raced across the village square, shoving and laughing as they ran, unaware of the gaze following them from the shadows of the village hall. They stormed into their house, making their mother shriek and drop the tea set she’d been laying out.
“What the-“ their mother yelled as she took them in. “What have you two been doing?! You’re filthy. Go wash up before tea. Go!”
She shooed them from the small house and towards the water-pump that stood in the centre of the courtyard. They stripped down to their undergarments beside it and hurriedly splashed water across themselves, scrubbing at the dirt and leaves that refused to remove themselves. They were watched from the shadows of the archway leading into the courtyard.
They tumbled back into the house, pushing and shoving each other, startling their mother again.
“That is enough!” she shouted at them both. They instantly froze and stood upright, staring at the floor at their feet “You are 15 years old! You should be looking for work, for a partner! Not gallivanting around the woods, wrestling with each other. Lilith for Yadle’s sake act like a woman, not some ruffian boy. You’ll never get a husband at this rate”
Lucas sniggered beside Lilith as she hung her head in shame. It drew the gaze of their mother in his direction
“And you! Lucas, you are a man now, you need to find a trade and start earning. The Smith wants you to marry his daughter but you won’t be able to until you get a job.”
Their mother calmed, running her hands over her apron and sat down beside the small tea service. The teenagers watched her and shared a look of uncertainty. She looked up at them both and sighed
“Well sit down and have some tea then!”

Lilith knew she should be in bed now but she just couldn’t sleep. She had spent much of the evening thinking about the expectations their mother had laid upon them both. She stared into the courtyard, dark and shadowed but did not really see it. Her gaze was stretched inwards, seeing her future flash before her eyes in boring scene after boring scene. A husband, children, keeping a home, growing old and dying. That was all she would ever amount to. Nothing more, nothing less.
Movement beside her drew her attention outwards once more and she realised that her twin had crept from his room and was stood there, staring at the water pump as she had.
“I don’t want to be married,” she said softly “I want to have adventures and see the world,”
“Don’t we all Lil, don’t we all,” Lucas sighed softly, sadness drawing lines in his face that ought not to be there. He looked up sharply “What’s that?!”
Movement in the shadows across the courtyard drew their gaze. A shadow, blacker than the rest, separated itself from the others and slowly slide across the cobbled square towards them. It drew closer and closer and the twins found themselves unable to move. As the shadow fell into the light that spilled from the open door behind them they found themselves looking at a strange man.
He was blond like them, tall like them and he had Lilith’s eyes and Lucas’ nose. His gaze was sharp and clear and he gave off an air of cruelty. His smile, when it came was not warm and welcoming as it ought to be but malicious, cunning. He carried a world of danger within him but the twins did not run.
“Hello my children,” He said softly, his voice low and gravelly. “I’ve come for you at last.
