Extras: Pocky
Word Count: 100
Summary: David thinks about his absent mother.
Notes: I always had this in my head as being something about Simon's troubled family, but in the end David got there first.

His mother left when he was sixteen, just walked out into the desert. He suspected he should’ve been more upset, if he hadn’t always seen it coming. She’d stroked his cheek, fluffed his hair - embarrassing but pleasant - and told him to always remember that he was special; he could do anything if he’d a mind to. (She always said it, as she watched him with mixed pride and apprehension as he played with things, fixed them.) He missed her sometimes, wondered if she missed him too; decided probably not, but he never forgot: he lived by those words.
