Summary: Some belated Christmas morning fluff that takes place during Firebird's marriage to Aaron. Firebird wakes up early on her favorite holiday. Also, anyone know how to keep LJ from double spacing my posts when I copy it in from Word?
No alarm clock was needed this morning. The excitement that seemed to infuse the very walls of the Blaze Villa every December worked its magic on Firebird like a charm. She woke up at six a.m. on the dot. The house was still night quiet, but she knew it was only a matter of time before it exploded with energy, her two children ecstatic that Christmas was finally here. Truth be told, Firebird was just as ecstatic. She loved Christmas.
Aaron was still sleeping deeply beside her. She rolled over to remedy the situation, kissing his mouth. He was a light sleeper and it took only a few quick pecks for him to stir.
"Merry Christmas," she murmured against his lips.
"S'not six thirty," Aaron slurred sleepily, burrowing further into the comforter. He didn't have to look at a clock to know. She did this every year.
"We said the kids couldn't come get us until six thirty. No one said anything about when we could go get them."
"You want to go wake them up? What's wrong with you?"
"It's Christmas," she said simply, as if that explained everything.
That made him smile. To her mind, it did explain everything. He gave into temptation and pulled her close against his side, kissing her deeper. She relaxed into his body, though when his hand somehow found its way under her bed clothes and up to her bare breast, she pulled her mouth away from his.
"We stayed up so late last night for a reason," she reminded him.
Aaron's smug smile said he needed no reminding about last night. "You're the one that woke me up early. Now we have to find a way to occupy ourselves for a half hour." He waggled his eyebrow at her. "Wanna make out?"
That made Firebird snort. "There's no such thing as 'making out' with you. It's either a quick kiss or foreplay."
"I'm an all or nothing kind of guy," he admitted shamelessly.
Firebird opened her mouth to retort but paused as a sound caught her attention. Aaron, being the enterprising man he was, took her silence as acquiescence and ran his thumb across her nipple.
She gave him a warning look. "The kids are awake."
"They're not," he retorted, his words muffled by the kisses he was administering to her neck.
"Mama? Are you awake?"
Aristo's loud whisper through the crack at the bottom of their bedroom door stopped Aaron's inquisitive fingers cold. Firebird grinned. "Told you."
He fell back on the bed with faux disgust. "It is not six thirty."
"They heard us. It doesn't count if they know we're already awake." She defended Aristo now because Firebird had lived by that rule as a child.
"How did they hear us? We were barely even whispering!"
Firebird hopped out of bed and pulled on her robe. "Duh. It's Christmas. Now get some pants on and let's go!"
