"It is wrong," Denise muttered to herself, as she walked down the sidewalk holding Alex's hand. Across the street a woman in a navy blue business suit had an angel on a chain leash, brown wings held tightly to its back.

"What's wrong Mommy?" Alex asked and Denise winced, not having meant for her son to hear her comment.

"Owning the angels dear," Denise replied, hoping her son would drop the subject.

"But all the celebrities have them so how can it be wrong?" Alex asked. Denise remembered how so many of the shows had the angels in them now. They were commonplace in media.

"Just because a lot of people have one does not make it right," Denise tried to explain. She tried to reword her explanation at the confused look at her son's face. "If all your friends stole something from a store would you do it?"

"No," Alex shook his head firmly. "Stealing is wrong."

"Yes. This is the same thing. Owning angels are wrong too," Denise said.

"How come its wrong?" Alex asked, looking at his mother with a look of curiosity.

"Angels are like humans, Alex. They have feelings like you and I do and they don't want to be tied up anymore then you do," Denise said. Alex nodded his head and went silent. Denise hoped that he had dropped the subject.

It wasn't until they got to the car that Alex spoke again. "If humans can't be owned then the angels shouldn't be owned either. Right Mom?"

Denise looked in surprise at her son. She was amazed that her eight year old son grasped a concept that so many adults had failed to grasp over the centuries. "Right Alex."
