“Did something happen with Emery?” Micah asks.
I feel the blood rush to my face taking some focus off my crotch.
“I think I need a doctor,” I say finally able to speak.
“I think you need a cold shower,” Micah says.
When I gain use of my motor skills I go upstairs with Micah to find Rodéo having a fit about something. Apparently he found out that Rydel is gay and has a big problem with it.
Taffy is here trying to settle the situation the best she can. I feel sorry for her. She’s not being heard or obeyed at all.
“I swear if you touch me in my sleep I’ll kill you,” Rodéo says.
“You’re not type,” Rydel says angrily before swearing in Chinese.
“I’m everyone’s type,” Rodéo says.
“That’s enough!” I shout, “Give it up, man. We already don’t like you.”
Taffy tries to calm Rydel down. He sits on his bed and ignores Rodéo. Taffy leaves while I am yelling at Rodéo.
“You better not get comfy here, Shrimp, you won’t last long in this competition. I saw what you were doing downstairs.”
“Are you threatening me?” I ask.
“Watch your back, and as for your girlfriend, game on,” Rodéo says.
“You stay away from her!” I say.
Micah holds me back. Rodéo leaves the room with his shower supplies. I kick his bed in anger. Rydel calms me down by giving me some delicious Asian tea he made downstairs.
“What were you doing downstairs?” Jace asks.
I blush and plea the fifth.
They drop the subject.
We decide to have a water balloon fight with the guys across the hall. They were already armed. We chase each other throughout the mansion like we are in a video game and attack each other with water balloons.
We accidentally wonder into the women’s wing where we see three girls having a nerf war. The leader is Emery. They change their targets to us. The four other guys I was with takeoff running in different directions. Emery shoots me in the butt with a dart. I keep running. She chases me. She catches up with me by the men’s wing of the mansion. She pins me in a corner and shoots the rest of the nerf missiles at me.
I throw my last balloon at her hitting her in the chest. The balloon explodes on her top. Her purple polka dotted bra shows through the wetness of the fabric. I cannot pull my eyes from her chest no matter how hard I try.
“Jigs up, Cuteness,” She says. She pins me against the wall. I surrender happily to her; she puts her hand out to stop me from moving. Acting tougher than she really is, she uses her pinky finger to hold me to the wall while she kisses me. If she asks, I would gladly become her prisoner.
She starts to leave.
“Good night,” I holler.
“Sweet dreams, Cuteness,” yells Emery, waving. She trips over a rug on the floor. She would have landed flat on her face had Rodéo not caught her.
He lifts her face toward his and whispers something in her ear. I don’t know what he says, but it causes her to slap him across the mouth, hard. Whatever it was must have been inappropriate.
He smacks her back. Without thinking I run to her aide and hit him in the jaw. Taffy has returned and is trying to stop me from killing him but gets elbowed in the face in the process.
A large black guy literally lifts me off Rodéo. Rodéo stands up and brushes himself off. He grins evilly and puts his hand on Emery’s shoulder. She smacks at it. I can’t do anything about it because I’m being restrained, otherwise I’d probably break his hand.
“Brom, release Mr. Mills,” Taffy instructs.
The black guy puts me on the floor and apologizes for squeezing me. I cross my arms and glare at Rodéo. Taffy orders us to go downstairs. She makes Rodéo wait on the couches while she drags me into her office to talk.
“You don’t strike me as the violent type, Tatum,” Taffy says.
“I’m not usually. That guy gets under my skin,” I say.
“He is a jerk, but that doesn’t mean you have to hit him. Why did you hit him, Tatum?”
I don’t respond.
“Does this have anything to do with Emery Banks?” She asks.
I look at her. She nods.
“I thought so. You two have been getting close since the beginning. Are you dating?”
I don’t know how to answer this question except honestly. I go into detail about what happened in the den tonight. I leave out the parts about my situation. She seems to pick up on it anyways.
“Thank you for your honesty.”
“Am I going to be disqualified?” I ask.
“Not today,” She says.
“I don’t understand. I broke a couple of rules.”
“You are an honest young man, Tatum; I want to see you do well in this competition. Don’t get into any more fights and as for Emery, keep it on the down low. I think you two make a good couple. As for Rodéo, try your best to meet him in the middle,” Taffy says.
I go upstairs a different way. I avoid the den at all costs. Emery greets me on the stairs and pulls me in to a corner for privacy. She pecks me a kiss. I wrap my arms around her waist as she plays with my hair.
“You’re my hero,” she says, “It kind of makes me horny.”
She puts her head on my shoulder. I embrace her. She kisses my neck. I kiss her on the cheek. “Good night, Emery,” I say.
“Good night, Cuteness,” Emery says.
I feel a tug at my hand. I turn around. Emery kisses me. I kiss her back. She’s so soft. Her curves fit against my body like a glove. This is how I want us to stay.
“Do me a favor,” Emery says.
“What’s that?”
“Don’t go kissing other girls, because starting today, you’re mine.”
“I have no problem with that,” I say grinning.
“See you tomorrow,” Emery says.
