“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Geena grinned happily to herself, as she glanced out the window again, ignoring Mrs Lai’s clear surprise.
“Yes.” She beamed. “They’re so happy together.”
“But… Frank already has sons!” Mrs Lai protested, obviously unhappy. Geena’s face darkened.
“What are you implying?” She asked politely.
“That your son already has one failed relationship behind him, so I am not sure he is the most suitable partner for Kerri…”
“Are you holding my son accountable for the infidelity of his wife?” Geena asked, smiling politely. “We both know that’s crazy.” She sent her a smile, laced with poison.

“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Frank Sr glanced at his wife in confusion. “I don’t understand.” He admitted after a second. “I thought she was his babysitter.”
“Have you listened to anything I’ve said over the last three months?” Geena demanded in annoyance, frowning at her husband in disapproval.
“You say so much sometimes…” Frank trailed off with a good natured grin.
“God. You’re even worse than your sons. They fell in love ages ago, but didn’t want to make it public. But I mean you just need to look at them to know that they’re in love!”

“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Howard nodded as Olive looked up surprised. “They’re getting married?” She clarified. “Is she pregnant?” Howard chuckled good-naturedly.
“I don’t know.” He admitted. “I got this from Geena.”
“Kerri and Frank haven’t told everyone?” Olive asked, surprised.
“Not as far as I know.” Howard shrugged.
“Definitely means she’s pregnant.” Olive told Rose. The toddler giggled. “Now eat your peas darling.”
“Peas.” The girl repeated, giggling. “Rose doesn’t like peas.” She clarified with a frown at the vegetables.
“Sorry, Rose has to eat peas. Or else she can’t go to the wedding.”

“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Teddy blew into the telephone, clearly surprised. “I knew that they were messing around a bit, but I had no idea it was this serious.”
“Frank? Messing around? Please, be rational.” Olive corrected him with a chuckle. “Howard’s the joker in that dynamic.” Teddy considered the analysis for a moment before nodding reluctantly.
“I suppose you’re right.” He agreed. “Anyway, is she pregnant?” He wanted to know.
“Nope. I asked the same thing.” Olive chuckled. “But then, I talked to them for about two minutes and realised… they really are in love.”

“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Sheila stared at Teddy, surprised. “You mean Daisy’s tiny Korean friend? What happened to Fiona? He didn’t leave her for the Korean, did he?” Teddy shook his head, wondering how many times he had to explain this to his mother.
“Fiona left him. Almost two years ago.” Teddy explained. “So Frank hired Kerri as a babysitter, and then they fell in love and now they’re engaged.”
“But…” Sheila trailed off with a helpless gesture. “She’s Korean. And why hasn’t Frank introduced her to me?”
“Because you already know her: she’s Daisy’s best friend, remember?” Sheila didn’t look impressed.

“Kerri? And Frank? Engaged?”
Daisy tapped her biro against her teeth as she frowned at her desk. “Why hasn’t Kerri told me?” There was an edge of hurt to her voice Geena was afraid to hear.
“She’s really busy at the moment with the boys and everything…” Geena tried to excuse her daughter-in-law but she knew that Kerri had violated a sacred bond.
“I also seem to be the last to hear.” Daisy’s voice was small.
“No you’re not!” Geena tried to reassure Daisy. “I mean…”
“I thought so.” Daisy felt like she lost a best friend to her brother.
