Ha, I love that Wes icon so much. Some really funny lines here even though the situation is kind of tragic. Wes looks at everything so childishly and lying's never a good thing but part of me does just want to keep him safe from the horrors of Gladys. I enjoyed the low-key conversation they shared, it was comfortable and understated but still affectionate in Hobbie and Wes' own way. :)

Gladys probably is just a nice lady and Wes demonizes her. I don't know for sure. Wes' outlook on the world is just very Wes-like. I love writing him.

The Wes icon is awesome. Falootin did an awesome job with that :D

I love how apparent it is that these two like each other, almost sometimes, it seems, despite themselves :P I can't say as I entirely blame Wes for lying but he does have a couple points in his own little Wes way. Hobbie's so matter-of-fact about all of it.

That's exactly how they feel about it, mainly Hobbie who regularly pauses and just wonders why the hell he even puts up with Wes and his antics but he can't help himself. And Wes has his problems with Hobbie, too ;)

By now, Hobbie is so used to Wes' antics that he usually is very unfazed about most of what Wes does.

Lol the end...that is just some perfect Wes logic right there. It does kind of make sense though-if you let yourself dwell on that, it's bound to be a tad unsettling ;) I really like Hobbie in this piece and how they interact so ~easily. It's interesting that Wes seems to be looking out for him re: the drinking combined with medication, even though he continues to deny Hobbie's heart problems are real.

"I can't sleep because I'm hoping my wife will die while asleep and I don't want to miss that" is pretty macabre but it does make sense in a very strange way.

It makes so little sense for Wes to be looking out for Hobbie in this situation because as you said, he only perceives things selectively and doesn't believe in heart attacks. Also, Wes probably drinks a lot more heavily than Hobbie and is in denial about it because in his mind, he's already treated one addiction and therefore is immune to all others and it's okay for him to drink too much.

this comment made me laugh almost as hard as the piece did. "he only perceives things selectively" is the perfect summing up of Wes

it does explain why he is who he is pretty well ;)

So, Wes is...scared of Gladys. That is hilarious and awesome (and I still want to know how the hell he wound up marrying her in the first place)

This is so full of priceless Wes lines. “I didn’t know you still drank. With your fake heart condition and all.” has to be the best, though the twisted Wes logic about Gladys dying in her sleep was funny too.

Also, it's really sad, but so appropriate, that Hobbie takes his heart meds with whiskey...

I need to figure out why he married her but he is really, really scared of her and comes up with excuses not to have sex and then they watch the Golden Girls. That's how bad this marriage is XD

Some things never change, even if you've had a heart attack.

Aww! I'm not sure who I feel sorry for the most. These two are both messed up, but at least they have each other, in a strange kind of way. I kind of wonder who Gladys has. Nicely done :)

Gladys has her kids, one of which beat Wes up after he discovered that Wes was googling ways to kill old people without making it look like murder. Wes' "step children" are actually older than him XD
