Summary: Kurt’s POV of “Babies Everywhere.”
Kurt had to smile, just a little, at Chloe’s expression when she picked up Piper for the first time, a vague imagining of another hypothetical baby with dark hair and blue eyes at the back of his mind. When Chloe looked up at him with a more determined look on her face, his grin froze into place.
“Baby. My uterus. Now.”
“Um,” was his reply. A few seconds later, Kurt really wished he said something cooler like, “In front of all these people?” or, “Shouldn’t you put that baby down first?”.
"Good luck fighting her. Of course, I had both of them demanding a baby..." Xavier told him, grinning.
Kurt was tempted to say sarcastically something about how horrible that must have been, but Diana spoke before he could.
"Yeah," she answered, "but we don't own your soul like Chloe does Kurt's."
“That’s not--“ Kurt starts to answer, before realizing how much of a lie he’d be telling if he completely that sentence. Quickly, he changed tactics. “Can’t we talk about this?” he asked Chloe, silently hoping she’d understand that he actually meant, “Can’t we talk about this in private, not around your mobster child best friend who could have me killed if I answer wrong?”
Either she did understand and didn’t care, or he needed to work on his telepathy. "What's the point? You're giving me a baby."
Diana laughed, and Kurt fondly recalled how, before he got married, he would actually win these things every once in a while. “I just...I don't know, thought we were going to wait a couple more years?" Once the whole world famous pop star thing calmed down a bit, and he felt like he could actually handle a baby without full out panicking.
“Look at her!” Chloe exclaimed. “I want one.”
He considered answering with, “You have one! Just take it!” before Jade spoke up with, “You can’t have ours.” Damn it.
Kurt, zero. Chloe, far too many to count. “Okay,” he sighed, suddenly wanting a drink, “we’ll have a baby.”
She jumped him as soon as they get home, which was something he could deal with.
Nothing really changed after that, except for the fact that he stopped buying condoms, and she stopped taking birth control. It was sometime in May when he came home to find her practically zooming back and forth across the apartment, tidying up and doing anything she could to keep her hands busy, which meant she was nervous. That in turn, of course, made him nervous. It didn’t help when she smiled at him with a too big smile, and asked him to sit.
“Can you do CPR on yourself?”
Nervous turned into confused. “What?”
“Nothing, never mind. Just-- never mind. Um.”
“...Chloe, what’s going-“
“I’m pregnant,” she blurted out before he could finish.
The rest of his sentence possibly came out as a very unmanly squeak. For a long, long moment, all he could do was stare at her in what he hoped came across as simple shock, and not what he was actually feeling, which was somewhere along the lines of “OhsweetJesuswhatthefuckdowedonow.”
“I know it’s maybe a little sooner than we were expecting, and I know you’re freaking out and I kind of expected it, but please get over it soon because I’m excited, and I want you to be excited with me, but right now you’re just freaking out, I think, and it’s making me freak out and--“
Okay, so he wasn’t hiding his immediate reaction all that well. “I’m not freaking out!” he hurriedly answered. “I’m just... taking a moment to process things. Process very big things.”
“Very big things,” Chloe agreed, nodding, sounding just as freaked out as he was. “We’re having a baby.”
“We’re having a baby,” Kurt repeated before it finally clicked and he smiled.
