The last thing Alain remembered before he blacked out was looking up at that bastard's smug face. All he wanted to do was create the perfect black hole in the perfect place to take him back to the Void, but that gunslinging fuck had to get in the way. The universe was full of solar systems; it's not like anyone would have missed one. But no, he just had to put a stop to everything.

Alain sat up and looked around the room. His eyes had trouble adjusting to the light-or lack thereof-but he could just barely make out a figure leaning against one wall. “Where is he?” Alain growled, clenching his fists.

The figure shrugged. “Don't worry about it,” it said.

“No, I'm fucking worried about it,” Alain said, getting off of the table and approaching the figure. Once he got close enough to make out who it was, he got even angrier. “I know that you, of all people, know where he is.”

Kashmir chuckled. “Hilarious as ever, I see,” he said, inspecting his nails. “You can't get to him right now.”

“Why? Where am I?”

“Exactly where you wanted to be.”

Alain cocked his head. “Don't fuck with me.”

“I'm not. I brought you back to your precious dream world.”

“Good.” Alain took a step closer. “Then just take me back.”

Kashmir smirked. “You see, there's a small problem with that plan,” he said. “You don't exist in that world anymore.”

“What do you mean? Of course I-“ Alain blinked as Kashmir's words sunk in. “No...no! He didn't-“

“He did.”

Alain let out an enraged scream as he grabbed a chair and flung it across the room with all his might. “I swear, I'll kill that son of a-“

“Well, you can't very well kill someone if they got to you first, now can you?” Kashmir smiled and shook his head. “I wish I could tell you that it was a beautiful funeral, but you didn't have many friends. Certainly none who cared enough, especially after you nearly incinerated half a dozen planets.” He paused and glanced up at the former scientist. “Do you want to go back?”

“What do you fucking think!?” Alain roared, punching the wall near Kashmir's head.

Kashmir scoffed. “Well, if you're going to be like that, then I won't help you.” He laughed when Alain screamed again. “All of that hate? Save it. Let it simmer a bit, and you'll have some ideas for when you get back.”

Alain sighed and crossed his arms. “Fine. Do what you need to do.”

“It'll take a while.” Kashmir smiled again. “Can you be patient for me?”

Alain visibly calmed down and sank into Kashmir's arms. “I'll try,” he whispered.

“There you go again with those pesky human concepts like 'trying.'” Kashmir looked down. “We'll have to fix that first.”

“What are you going to do to me...?”

“You'll look back on this one day and thank me for making you strong.” Kashmir's smile turned dark. “Just sit back and enjoy being the experiment for once.”
