Antonio waited for Bernard to walk in the door. Now Bernard had a new mission besides trying to get him to laugh. He wanted to see him fly. Antonio didn’t know why it was such an issue. His wings weren’t clipped even if they were medical science in Coven could undo the damage. His wings sustain no damage. They were healthy and the molting slowed down. Antonio refused to see a therapist about it. He figured it was another point in Bernard’s argument. He had to admit he thought Bernard would have given up a while ago. He didn’t expect for this to keep happening.

Antonio grinned Bernard is quite interesting that’s for sure. He didn’t know why these feelings continued to appear, but they would disappear in time.

As if on cue, Bernard walked through the door. He waved happily on the way to his chair. “Hi Antonio, how are you?”

“Fine,”

“Any change?”

“No,”

Bernard sighed running his hand through his hair. I guess we’re doing this again. “So did you see the therapist?”

“I don’t need to see a therapist. I’m fine.” Antonio said curtly.

“Somehow I just don’t believe that. If you were so fine, how come you haven’t flown yet?” Bernard asked.

“I do not feel the need to do it at this moment.” Antonio said trying to quench his anger.

“You’ve been telling me that for weeks now. I need to know. Why won’t you fly? Are you afraid?” Bernard asked.

Antonio glared at him. “Why would I be afraid of the sky? That’s like me asking you if you’re afraid of fire.”

Bernard nodded, “True, true, but my question still stands. Why won’t you fly?”

“I don’t want to.” Antonio said.

“How come you won’t see a therapist?”

“I don’t need to.”

“Why won’t you talk to anyone? Me, Alene, and Jade would listen to you.”

“How could you possibly understand my plight?” Antonio said. He hated how pathetic that came out.

“I can understand a lot of things. The war hasn’t been easy for any of us.” Bernard said.

Antonio gripped the bed sheet tightly. “You don’t understand. You didn’t have your kingdom taken from you. Your power stripped in front of your family. Watching your kingdom crumble as your trusted friend laughs in your face, you have no idea what I’ve been through. Those damn punks who messed with me was icing on the cake.” He didn’t notice his wings flapping slowly.

However, Bernard noticed. He opened his mouth to mention it, but Antonio continued talking.

“I thought everything was fine. Until those damn fire, sky, and water demon rebels stormed in. I don’t even know if my castle is standing anymore. My family is broken apart. I don’t know if I have anyone I can call my friend anymore. I have a feeling that even the lowest class of demon is laughing at me right now because I felt it was right to trust my advisor. Because of the poor choices I made my people had to suffer!” Antonio exclaimed his body slowing moving out of the bed.

“Uh Antonio…”

“My family had to suffer. I had to suffer from my choices. It was the most humiliating thing ever. Then I had to listen to those punks in order to get something to eat and drink. I had to watch as they wield the small power they had in front of us. I was afraid of making the wrong choice so I didn’t do anything. Then your squad came along and freed us, which I’m thankful for, but it doesn’t help with my poor choice in making up my mind.” Antonio said his fist balling up.

“Antonio…”

“So excuse me for not being an open book. Excuse me for not being able to talk freely about my lovely experiences as of late. Most of all excuse me for not taking flight. I haven’t had much to fly or talk about these days.” Antonio said his feet lighting touching the bed.

“Antonio…”

“What is it?” Antonio snapped.

Bernard smiled, “You’re flying,”

Antonio looked at Bernard in confusion before casting his eyes downward. He gasped lightly at the sight of the bed under his feet. He looked around noticing a happy Bernard looking up at him. Antonio noticed his hair blowing lightly around his face. It was true. He was flying again. He was flying and it felt good. Antonio flew around the room once before stopping in front of Bernard. He wanted to smack that smug look off his face.

“How does it feel?”

“My wings are a little stiff, but nothing that would hinder me.” Antonio said.

“Doesn’t it feel good to let it all out?” Bernard asked.

“I suppose, but don’t think I’ll do everything else you suggest.” Antonio said.

“I always have alternative suggestions. Such as this nice therapist on the fourth floor…”
Bernard trailed off rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

“Bernard,”

“Yes?”

“Shut up,”

Bernard smiled, “You’re welcome Antonio.”

Antonio shook his head with an amused grin. Bernard is indeed interesting.
