He could smell her blood before he saw her, the coppery smell of the blood that lingered below a thin layer of skin. He stood at the front of the alley, hidden from anyone in the street in the shadows. The woman with the so sweet smelling blood crossed in front of the alley and he moved quickly, hand over her mouth and pulled her deep into the alley's shadows.
"The less you resist the easier this will be," he whispered, looking into her fear filled eyes. She attempted to punch him with her unrestrained left hand. He felt the hit but watched as her eyes widened in pain and shock. Then she flailed, trying to get him to loosen his grip on her and failed miserably.
He used the hand covering her mouth to angle her head so he could get better access to her neck and put his body up against hers to limit her movement. As he moved his mouth towards her neck the woman had reached her hands around his back. She fruitlessly pounded and scratched at his back and his lips met her neck, teeth breaking the skin and let the copper tasting blood flow into his mouth.
He drank the blood as the woman's movements slowed and eventually went slack in his grip. She was barely conscious by the time he had his fill, her body slid to the alley ground as he let her go.
"Thank you," he whispered as he reached down and snapped her neck, putting her out of her misery. The last look on her face was one of abject horror. He got up gracefully and looked towards the street where a man stood.
"Hungry Declan?" the second man said conversationally as Declan wiped the blood from around his mouth.
"Not like its any of your business Nicky but yes." With that Declan left the alley to join Nicky on the street, leaving the pale, lifeless body in the alley.
