I had to laugh as this so reminded me of a high school teacher I had. He was an old school military type guy who would go off onto these weird rants. And yes, taking care of your goddamn boots was something he said often.

Robyn's boots are her most prized possession. She loves them. She still has hers from her army days and polishes them every day. Oh Robyn. So sad and awesome at the same time. XDD
