Summary: Alain and Kashmir's first meeting.
Notes: Not sure what it is with me and this 'first meeting' kick. :p Enjoy :D

Alain wasn't sure if he had been crying or just bleeding from the eyes. It felt like both.

The last thing he remembered was the ship shaking itself apart under the immense strain of approaching a black hole. Not his best plan, but-

Wait, did this mean that he was inside a black hole?

In any other situation, he would have celebrated and helped himself (and whatever pretty young thing he had picked up for the evening) to an obnoxious amount of alcohol, but he just couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't supposed to be there. This wasn't discovering an unknown place, this was just wrong.

Alain wanted to get away. Even if there was someplace to escape to, he was helpless, bleeding, and he could barely move. He opened his mouth to call for help-maybe there's nothing to be afraid of?-but all that came out was a choked sob.

He tried to push himself up, but a terrible pain shot up his leg. He screamed and fell back down, noticing the bone shard that was sticking out of his thigh. Great, he thought. I liked these pants, too.

Alain rolled onto his back, exhausted and terrified. He had no way of getting back, he didn't see anyone-or anything, for that matter-that could help, and he was stuck in a place that, theoretically, nothing should be able to reach. He had probably broken every law of physics just getting there, and physics had a tendency to make things right by any means necessary.

A shape came into his view and towered over him. Alain didn't quite know what it was, but it seemed to be examining him.

“Please,” Alain managed to whisper. “Please help me...”

The figure reached down and picked Alain up, giving the scientist a closer look. It was...human. Possibly. It was certainly attractive, but for the first time in years, Alain wasn't too concerned with that.

“Pathetic,” the being finally said, narrowing its cold, green eyes. “How did you get here?”

Alain couldn't answer. He hugged the being and sobbed, not caring what happened next.

Kashmir looked down at his phone. A bit of unnecessary technology, but it was fun to be able to talk to someone without jumping into their head. “Yeah?” he said, lifting the phone to his ear.

“Hey,” a mousy voice said on the other end of the line. “Where are you? I thought we were going to have dinner tonight...”

Kashmir glanced at the human, who was still clutching his shirt, even in its sleep. Sure, it was weak, just like the rumors said, but it was...cute, in a strange way. He wanted to keep it safe, maybe take it on as a project and make it stronger.

“Sorry, love,” Kashmir said, thankful that Belial wasn't quite strong enough to read his mind. “I don't think I'm going to make it tonight.”
