I love the tension here. Tension is so hard for me to write, so I when I see someone else write it so easily, I'm in awe. Even though I don't know the characters I am able to deduce what is going on, which is great.
I'd love to start reading from the beginning of your story - do you have any specific post that you'd recommend I start with?

Thank you very much :) Tension between characters is what I live for in writing and reading, and I love to make people read between the lines.

oh man, always a tough question (my canon is about 40-some years of intertwined mess) I'm not the most prolific of writers, but I've been here from the start, so there's a lot of it. Most of us keep indexes to put our stuff in order - mine's linked at the top of the post. I just finally put together sort of a summary/intro here. If you like these two, they belong to the sections marked 'necromancers' throughout the index. Or if you want some overall glimpses of the characters and the canon there are these and this.

also, we just had an icebreaker which is a good way to check out stories, and you can still add yourself to the list.

Ah, thank you, that clears things up a bit.
I saw the icebreaker, but I refrained from posting there only because I haven't really formulated a coherent summary of my novel. Once I get my act together I'll trot myself over there and make an introduction.

Ha, I like that she knocks him out at the end. Hoping he'll forget what he saw, maybe? This is only Reida being...sort of nice. She's clearly self serving as always. Not that I didn't expect him to, but I still liked seeing Kairn kinda call her out on whatever she's up to. “Guilt or fear?” Yeaah, I bet Reida didn't like that ;)

I liked this line a lot Her eyes were stark black points in the haze and the look they gave him sent a chill up his spine that cut through the spell. And as usual, the way you describe the magic working :)

Thank you :) Maybe I'm back now?

Yeah, like I said last night, Reida's not really being nice (though she is honestly a little guilty about what happened). And no, Reida never likes being called out on anything.

Now that's a good way to make people forget you sort of fucked up.

Reida figured it was worth a shot ;) It really only ends up delaying things though.

thanks :)

An interesting angle on Reida, though I still feel sorry for Kairn. I loved your description of the spell-- fabulously done. Especially the final two lines. :)

Reida does occasionally have non-threatening feelings towards other people, though she does manage to twist them back into her usual self-serving agenda

thanks :)

Reida's slight creepiness and odd sweetness here are interesting. I don't blame Kairn in the slightest for his reaction, but at least he HAS someone to take care of him. Even if it isn't who he wants.

Even if she's the one that nearly killed him in the first place? ;)

Sethan's actually around too, so Kairn's in good hands (well, at least as far as keeping him in one piece goes) all around. Reida's just hovering for her own self-serving reasons.

thanks :)
