Astaroth didn’t want to admit it, but maybe Stratos had been right about this one.
The dark-haired boy had slipped into the woods near town to get away from the angry mob. That wouldn’t have been a problem if it hadn’t started pouring. That wasn’t a problem (Astaroth hated getting wet, so he didn’t), but it was quite inconvenient. And he couldn’t have his plaything catching a cold, could he?
Astaroth spotted the boy, huddled under a stone bridge with a bottle in one hand and the knife in the other. He looked exhausted.
“Don’t tell me you actually let one of those losers get a hit in,” the god said, leaning against the stone next to his soon-to-be conquest.
The boy took a swig of his drink and looked up. “The fuck you want, firecrotch?” he slurred.
“How vulgar.” Astaroth pulled the boy to his feet. “What would you say if I told you that I could take care of them for you?”
“Whatever, man.” The boy caught sight of something past Astaroth and growled. “Oh, hell.”
The god turned around and raised an eyebrow at the approaching group. “Persistent, aren’t they?”
“Yeah. Assholes.”
Astaroth held his hand out. “Give me that knife before you hurt yourself.”
“Why the fuck would I-“
With a sigh, Astaroth snatched the knife away from the boy. “Seriously? It’s so light…” Astaroth rolled his eyes and tossed the knife aside.
“Hey!” The boy scowled. “I-“
“Shut up.” Astaroth looked back at the approaching crowd. “You’re not afraid of blood or anything, are you?”
“No…”
“Good.” Astaroth clenched his fist and drew his arm back, pulling a massive battleaxe out of thin air. “There’s going to be a lot of it,” he said with a smile.
