Notes: I took a little hiatus due to a nasty bout of writer's block, but now I'm back! I decided to do this piece because my great-aunt just died, and I was just thinking about how I feel right now and how my grandmother must feel. Enjoy.
"Alice?"
Her voice is small, a speck of dust in the cavern of our room. I turn to her and grasp her hand. "Yes?"
"She's not coming back. She's...she's gone." Her eyes search my face, full of fear and sadness. "Why won't she come back?"
"God thought it was her time to go," I murmur.
"God is a fool!" Her voice echoes in the silence, filling the room with bitterness. "A fool to look at her and think it was her time! She had a life ahead of her, a family, and he snatched it away." There is a moment of silence. "I hate him."
I can't say I blame her.
