I absolutely love the line "and cringed so hard I wasn't sure it would ever un-cringe" - I absolutely adore the mental image it gives me!

And I really love the way your characters speak too, it's so natural and makes me grin like crazy.

*curtsies* I'm glad you liked it! And the dialog, come to think - here, have a big blanket enthusiastic thank-you =)

(Jaime does eventually un-cringe, in case you were worried or anything~)

Love the dialogue! Also, it has this sort of poetic swing to it, felt right from the beginning. It really carries through. Also very intrigued by this 'verse you've created, and the first person voice is very strong. :)

Thank you so much! :) (For more of this verse... I can't really offer you an index, but both Blueberry Yogurt and Toasted Almond are all in it, and I should be posting more from it every other day, if you're interested?)

I totally am! Expect comments from me on the weekends--that's usually the only time I can be on my personal computer for more than few minutes before succumbing to exhaustion. =X But yes, will check it out, definitely. :)

what the flying cheese-coated merry hell? <-- best EVER.

I feel bad for Amber. It's pretty clear that she WANTS to be human and relatable, but because of her position, she can't really be, nor can she do everything (and often people in a position of power feel like they have to). Hopefully she and Jaime can stay on good terms, and that Jaime can help her.

*prim* When you swear by hell as much as Jaime does, you really need the modifiers. (Whether it is cheddar or cream cheese has not been determined.)

Because of her species, too. *felt like she should point that out* I don't think they'll ever manage "good terms" (which makes me feel sad, like a sad thing), but eventually they will get this sorted out and have a fairly reasonable system for, y'know, the city not getting destroyed or anything, which is at least a goal they have in common. (If she'd not gotten less human as she got older [see also: Libris] things might've been better with the Seers after Jaime, but since she didn't they weren't. Er.)

Thank you~

I sort of love Amber and Jaime together. There is awesome dialogue that ensues when they are. Also love Jaime shutting up the Carrionkind guard, and Amber threatening retribution, and being sorry for what she can't do. Poor both of them; sucks being stuck between two worlds.

Thank you =).

Poor both of them; sucks being stuck between two worlds.
*emphatic nodding* And there you go summing up both of their main plot arcs. Yes. Very much yes.
