Summary: Lus practices.
A/N: Well, now I'm on a roll. Have some more crazy.
Lus did not get to where he ended up without practice. Like every other skill, it took ages to perfect, and get used to. He spent years practising on cats and dogs, and when he finally felt ready, he went to find the perfect set of eyes. (He still has them - had them, before he was arrested - in a place of honour, beside his bedside table. They are still the most beautiful set he has, despite the fact that they're not in perfect condition.)
He found them, in the head of a younger man, who came in to get lunch one day. He paid with credit card, making it absurdly easy for the redhead to track him down. (The fact that it was his wallet that the man had "left behind" didn't hurt either.) He was just close enough, the man suspected nothing (this was before he'd become famous, of course) and things were moving perfectly...
When Lus realised he didn't know how to do this one handed. He should have practised, but he'd never bothered: the animals had all always been dead when he'd gotten them, they wouldn't move, and he had all the time in the world. It was becoming rapidly evident, that he didn't have all the time in the world, here, and that he would need to hold the man's mouth shut, else he would scream, and attract attention, and Lus really didn't need that.
So, he cut his losses and killed the man, before cutting out his eyes.
It was a crime that was never attached to the Blinding Man case, oddly enough, because by the time he'd got famous, that case had been cold for so long, and it was in such a different community from where he did the bulk of his work. It was also horrendously shabby compared to his later work, he thought. (Almost like comparing a ripped up piece of paper with a carefully shredded document, in his eyes.)
