“What’s going on?” She asks, and she’s practically snapping into the phone, because seriously, is she on horseback or what?
Zia keeps rambling incoherently.
“Snap out of it!”
Zia, fourteen, starts again; “I just took an Excederin even though I don’t really have a headache, and that means I’ve just taken drugs recreationally and am a delinquent and the school is going to find out and I’m going to be disqualified from school, and by virtue, life!”
“You woke me up for this?” Delia almost hangs up. “You know my parents’ll take you in when yours kick you out.”
