Author's Note: read "
When Cissie met Luca" to understand this a little situation better. However if you can tell from the imagery, it's obvious how the story goes without reading the past installments.
"Owwww- ow-ow-ow! This hurts!"
"Cissie, that's not how you toast marshmallows- you use a stick!"
The young girls' giggles and wails resonated through the campsite as the flames licked at their impaled marshmellows. Feasting on the soft white and pink marshmallows- they chattered excitedly about their first camping trip together, Cissie's first camping trip ever. Cass' often went on holidays with her family, but it was the first time she had brought a friend with her.
"This is so fun" said Cass', mouth full of sticky marshmellow. "I've never had someone to camp with before"
"I've never been camping" Cissie giggled, slowly pulling her burnt marshmallow from the stick. "-but this is fun- I wish I could go fun places with my family like you can"
"It's not fun most of the time" Cass' admitted, smiling at the younger girl. "It's more fun with you!"
"...really...?" Cissie went a deep red, embarassed. "Th-Thank you"
There was silence for a moment as the fire crackled and sparked between them. Slowly, Cissie found the courage to ask a question that had been pestering her young mind for a while.
"Cass... will we be friends forever?"
"Of course" Cass' said with no hesitation, piling the marshmallows onto the stick. "Trust me, we'll always be friends"
These words soothed Cissie's worries instantaneously. With an eager nod, she followed Cass's example and began to pile the marshmallows onto her stick. She did trust Cass', because she wanted to. This way, she'd always have someone there when she needed them. She'd never have to be scared if she had Cass'. She'd never have to worry about facing her worries alone, because she'd have someone there to help her through it.
As she thought of this, Cissie suddenly realised.
Her marshmallows were burnt.
