Summary: I want to go home.
Characters: Deirdre Greine.
The girl shrunk into herself. This bed was freezing. She got up, clutching her little brown bear, teeth chattering as she searched the empty house for another blanket. The layout of this house was so different from home.
She looked everywhere. Kitchen, bedrooms, living room. Brother, sister, anyone else.
Nothing. No one was there. Her whole body convulsed with frozen trembles.
“I want to go home,” she mouthed. Her hair felt frozen. “Don’t make me stay here.”
And let the world know, her grandmother’s voice whispered in her ear, that Deirdre Greine was afraid.
Deirdre limped back to bed.
