It was Dom who approached Muzange with the plan. The older Hopper had been quite impressed with how easily the ruthless ideas fell from Dom’s mouth without coaxing. Muzange had never seen this side of the boy when Risk wasn’t smiling some psychopathic smile that he supposed was a secret code between the two. He had always assumed that it had been Risk who had brought the crazy out in Dom, but now he just wasn’t so sure.

“You can whatever you need to do if you think it will get this bounty taken care of.”

“Don’t worry, Sir, I have everything under control,” Dom responded as he took a signed piece of paper from Muzange and folded it so that it would fit in his pocket.

He didn’t want Risk to know. He figured that it was wrong to hide all of this from her, but she wouldn’t like all the sneaking around. She would want to find the bounty hunter herself. She would want to fight him and Dom wasn’t sure if that was the best option. Honestly, he was afraid for her. If Muzange thought that this person was enough of a threat to take them off active duty then it meant that he was someone not to be taken lightly. Muzange had showed Dom the files after all. The bounty hunter was supposed to be some ruthless monster. He was supposed to be a lunatic who couldn’t feel pain. But aside from all the rumors there was one thing that was fact: he was a Hopper. That meant he had taught himself to Hop without any training. That fact alone meant he was stronger than Dom. Risk was the only Hopper Dom knew who had done that and she had only done it once. It made him feel that this hunter was probably stronger than her as well since that had almost killed her.

“Soldier,” he called into a crowd of similarly clothed men and women playing cards and gambling. At his voice they jumped up sending money and cards flying. He rolled his eyes and little and gestured one of them over.

“Sir?” She asked hesitantly. He didn’t say anything but simply studied her features. Her hair was a dark enough brown. Too long, but of course that could easily be changed. Her eyes weren’t the exact shade of blue but close enough. Her skin was pale, though the soldier didn’t have the light dappling of freckles that Risk had. He realized, as he stared at the young soldier’s face and compared it to his partner’s, that even with a photograph no one would know Risk’s face as well as he did. No one would ever know because no one had been staring at her face for nine years. This girl would do just fine.

“Do you want to help the Hoppers?”

“What do you mean, Sir?”

“You’re going to be involved in a top secret mission. You know, if you say yes. You’d be working with me and Risk in order to-“

“Oh, Hopper Risk is my idol!” The girl squealed.

“Then you’re going to like this mission,” Dom said with a smile.

This was going to be easy
