days 1-3: nashville

on saturday, august 8th, i supposedly graduated. rather than going to commencement, i left for a road trip instead. the first day involved going to nashville, tennessee.

i got into town around 7.00 pm or so and met my friend dan potter. i've known him for over 12 years, and he recently turned 25. it's kind of crazy to think that i've known someone (family-aside) for more than half of their life.

we ended up riding our bikes around downtown nashville that night and seeing a movie called Moon. it was interesting, but not life-changing. more riding, including a near-death experience, concluded the night. the next day involved some bike riding, swimming at an apartment complex pool, eating too much, and then a party in murfreesboro, tennessee. i can say that it was the first time i had ever witnessed beer pong in person.

that monday dan had to work, so i hung out with my friend sarah quiet_light for the first time ever, despite knowing each other for something like six years. i was wanderinga round a terrible mall in order to kill some time, so i ended up going to her classroom to help her set up in preparation for the kids' first day. good thai food was eaten that night, tons of good discussion, and me telling dumb jokes. things were good.

the following morning i left to go to greensboro, north carolina, but i'll save that for the next post.

i also decided that, rather than deliberately selecting music to listen to, i would reach into my big brown bag of cassettes and randomly select something to listen to. you know, make it a bit more exciting and whatnot. the soundtrack for the drive to nashville was as follows:

hot water music- forever and counting
the lemonheads- come on feel the lemonheads
between the buried and me- colors live
born against- nine patriotic hymns of the race war
