I went to an advanced screening of Gus Van Sant's new biopic Milk, about America's first openly homosexual politician elected to public office--Harvey Milk, City Supervisor, San Fransisco, 1977--who is later assassinated by a disgruntled colleague.
It is an amazing film, and I would be surprised if Sean Penn does not get an Oscar nod, as his performance is nothing short of mesmerizing, touching, and earnest. It's a definite tear jerker and is amazingly relevant as well. I recommend it for sure, and it will be released officially on 11.27.08.
I probably should not have gone out last night to see it, as now I feel sick again, but it was pretty much worth it.
