(no subject)
Weekend was very good. Darren and I were just had an easy lazy weekend in, although we did go out on Saurday night for Lou's birthday. We went for a tapas in Hazel Grove and the food was excellent. I think it was the best tapas I've ever had and I think everyone was in agreement about the food. Afterwards we went to a bar for some drinks and about 1pm Darren, George and I called it a night. I decided to drive that night mainly to save some money as I have been underpaid this month. Unfortunately the sick pay is a very basic amount and it's bit of a joke considering I'm on minimum wage and I only work 3 days a week. But Darren is going to get my money back for me but it might take a bit of time before I see that as insurance companies are so slow.
I'm still clueless what I'm going to get my dad for his birthday. The man never gives me any ideas of what he'll like because he likes surprises. Well I do know what he likes but most of the things he really desires are antiques that are waaaaayyyyy out of my budget. No way Jose!
Speaking of birhtdays Darren and I have decided to go to Paris for a long weekend for my birthday in November. I'm really looking forward to it and I can't wait to have a break either, especially after this miserable summer. We're going to use the Eurostar again to get there as Darren isn't keen on flying. Also it doesn't make any difference to the cost of the travel if we were going to fly anyway and it roughly takes the same amount of time too. Also I really don't like Charles de Gaulle airport because last time my mum and I had a really hard time finding our way around it.
Yesterday was Sophie's last day in the shop. I just couldn't believe last week that David had forgotten she was leaving. When I returned to work I was a little confused that Geof and Jude had no idea she was leaving and they were surprised when I told them. Sophie had given him a month's notice and David totally forgot about it. I said to David that he better have a replacement lined up for the following Monday otherwise I'm not going in. It's too hard to work in the shop on your own handling a load of rude students as well as answering the door, telephones and dealing with deliveries. He assumes that Caroline will be working on Monday but has he called her to let her know this or even make sure she's free on Mondays? No of course not. Anyway David didn't organise any leaving meal for her which is very tight of him considering he has done this for all his past employees. So I went out with Sophie for a drink after work which turned out to be 2 bottles of white wine in the end. :) I was very drunk and I rang Darren whilst I was on my way home. I have no idea what I said to the boy. This morning I looked at my text messages and there are some strange texts about pears. I'm going to miss Sophie a lot and I hope I'll be seeing her again soon.
Anyway I'd best get off t'internet and do some work. I want to finish this commission hopefully by tomorrow.
