Post-sorority update

As many of you may know, I was a member of a sorority while in college. For those that didn't know, this may come as a shock.

I have never regretted my membership. Sororities and fraternities get a bad reputation. They are accused of being elitist, exclusionary, and an assortment of other things. Some of the criticisms are warranted, but not all. What you don't hear about is what happens after the frat boys and sorority chics grow up.

Yesterday morning, about half a dozen of us gathered together for breakfast. There was talk of the upcoming 30th reunion, former professors, classmates and all sorts of other things. Then out came the pictures. Not pictures of our times at school or assorted hijinks. These were pictures of our kids. One of my sisters even brought her two little ones with her. We talked about homework issues, school habits, one even is testing to get his drivers license.

A good time was had by all. Now some of us may end up hanging out a bit more, or not. We do help each other out with job references, advice for and about kids and general good vibes.

All in all it was a good day.

family, memories
