HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Happy Mother's Day to my lj friends. Hope you all have a great day! I got a card, a box of chocolates, and a bouquet of geraniums. It's more of an ivy type plant.

Because I've got a busy schedule, the hubby and I agreed on just going to Burger King, instead of a fancy sit-down buffet style meal. I'm getting pretty sick of restaurant style meals anyways, and I don't want to stand in line, regardless if we made reservations or not.

A friend of mine stopped over the other day for a truck load of manure, but her husband only scooped up approx. 5 or 6 shovel fulls of the chicken stuff from our brooder room. Unfortunately for me, prior to that, I'd thrown everything from the rabbits out into a huge pile, which meant I had to scoop it all up again and re-pile near the garden. Next time I'll know better, that she needs so little. So this morning I'll be vacuuming the incubator room and brooder room, plus cleaning out an incubator, setting it with some eggs and possibly getting my chicks out of the basement and into the brooder area. I already emailed my District Vet and let him know if he was free tomorrow morning, I'd be available for inspection. Hopefully he's here, and it's done in short order-and I pass inspection.

The hubby bought potatoes and onion sets and after years of asking, now wants to turn our garden the other way - WOOT! WOOT! This will eliminate people passing on the highway from seeing down our rows, as well as them seeing any weeds that I KNOW we'll get.

I am officially up to 31 rabbits, about half are bucks but hopefully by winter, we'll have cut out alot of them, especially after the upcoming show season where I find out who needs to be cut, and who doesn't. I have a few does I want to show and at least 1 or 2 does I'll be cutting out of my program - mainly Californians though. I'm thinking of bringing Dwarf Hotots the next show, which will be a 2 day, 6 judge show in Hutchinson. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll stay there the whole weekend, or drive back/forth. It's almost a 3 hr trip one way. I'd have to bring my dog if I stay for the weekend, but showing everything a bunch of rabbits would definitely be well worth it. I might even just put my house dog in the kennel with another dog for the weekend.

Later today I'm bringing 2 does over to a gals place in Frazee. 2 young does and a mama doe with a litter of 4. The 2 does are going back into our partnership - she says we're still partners, and she'll keep the mama doe until the buns are approx 6 weeks or so, then I'll get the mom back and her kids will show those buns in 4H as juniors, then sell them. As for the doe, she's due to kindle again when those buns are 6 weeks. That'll be a doe I may send down the road as I have trouble keeping weight on her.

Anyways, I better get back to work...! Hope you all have a great Mother's Day! I know, I will. :-)
