on a recent windy evening i meandered my way to my mailbox
before stepping out for a really fantastic walk.
expecting bills and value paks
i was so surprised to open the little door and find a slender envelope with the handwriting of a dear friend.
excitedly i tucked it under my arm and set out to find a good place to read it.
along the way i got lost in the sunset. the crickets. the bugs. the flowers and the desolation that exists between camp parks, the jail, sybase, homes and my apartment.
the quiet place i found to read the letter was on my couch.
and so i sat and opened this envelope and in it i found
two letters.
one from my dear natalie and one that i had written to her 10 years ago.
they were both a treasure to read.
after a phone call to say thanks i was reminded about how much i used to write.
letters.
on paper.
with pen
with pencil
with sharpie
with crayon
with collages
with paint
with glitter
and with love.
it's time for more pen
and for
more paper.
